What Information Is Required for a Coating Equipment Quotation?

2026-09-15

A useful coating equipment quotation starts with the parts you need to coat. Product photos, material grades, dimensions, coating targets and production volume give the supplier a basis for selecting a system. Missing details can lead to revised configurations and prices.

For PVD and DLC equipment, prepare the following information before requesting a proposal.

What Information Is Required for a Coating Equipment Quotation

1. Product Type, Material and Surface Condition

Identify the component and its application: carbide end mills, steel molds, hydraulic parts or decorative hardware. Give the exact substrate grade, heat treatment and maximum allowable processing temperature.

Include the current surface finish and any existing coating. Explain the problem you want to solve, such as rapid wear, material sticking or excessive friction. Share photos of failed coatings and describe the operating conditions.

2. Drawings, Dimensions and Coating Areas

Provide drawings with dimensions and units, plus the weight of your largest part. Mark the surfaces that need coating and the areas that must remain uncoated. Highlight deep holes, internal surfaces and tight tolerances for technical review.

For mixed products, send representative drawings and quantities. Ask the supplier to confirm the usable coating zone and proposed fixture layout. A part fitting inside the chamber does not establish that it can be coated as required.

3. Coating Requirements and Acceptance Criteria

Name the required coating if it is already specified. Include target thickness, acceptable variation, surface finish and any adhesion, wear or color requirements. Attach the customer's specification and test method where available.

If the coating is undecided, describe the working environment and performance target. Cutting speed, machined material and coolant use are useful details for tool applications. Loads, mating materials and lubrication conditions help define requirements for sliding components.

Huasheng's GFOUR HiPIMS coating machine is designed for cutting tools and industrial components requiring controlled coating properties. For DLC projects, Huasheng's DLC1500 DLC coating machine provides another process route to evaluate.

4. Production Volume and Product Mix

State your required daily or monthly output, operating shifts and expected growth. Separate products that need different coating recipes or thicknesses.

For a PVD coating machine quotation, request a capacity estimate based on your actual parts and fixtures. Ask what the quoted cycle time includes: heating, deposition, cooling and handling can affect the production schedule.

Ask for the part, pieces per batch, coating recipe and expected batches per shift to be stated in the proposal.

5. Factory Location and Available Utilities

Provide the installation country and a workshop layout showing available space, ceiling height and equipment access. List the available electrical supply, cooling water, compressed air and process gases.

Ask for a site preparation sheet with the proposed vacuum coating equipment configuration. Identify utility upgrades and clarify who supplies the chiller, gas connections and other supporting systems.

6. Equipment and Service Scope

Specify the equipment you already own and what the new project must include. A turnkey coating solution may involve cleaning, surface preparation, fixtures, coating, post-treatment and inspection. Huasheng's turnkey workflow includes these surrounding production stages, with optional steps selected for the application.

Request separate line items for auxiliary equipment, process development, installation, operator training and initial spare parts. Confirm which coating recipes are included and how production acceptance will be demonstrated.

Itemized proposals help reveal costs outside the main machine price.

7. Budget, Delivery and Project Stage

State your target commissioning date and delivery destination. A budget range is helpful if you want the supplier to separate essential equipment from optional additions.

Say if you need an early budget estimate or a detailed purchase proposal. Ask the supplier to identify assumptions, exclusions, quotation validity and delivery terms, including responsibility for freight, installation and related expenses.

Request a Quotation from Huasheng

Start with your company and contact details, product drawings, material grades, coating targets, output requirements and installation location. Mark unknown items as “to be confirmed” for technical review.

Send these details to Huasheng for an equipment and process review. Agree on the configuration, supply scope and acceptance criteria before finalizing the coating equipment quotation.
