Huasheng Concludes a Productive Week at IMTS 2026
Huasheng Nano Technology successfully completed its participation in IMTS 2026, held from September 14 to 19 at McCormick Place in Chicago.
During the six-day exhibition, our team met with cutting tool manufacturers, component suppliers, coating service providers and industrial companies from the United States, Mexico, Brazil, Argentina, Europe and Asia. The discussions covered coating technology selection, equipment configuration, operating costs and the feasibility of establishing in-house coating production.

The exhibition generated 142 new business contacts. More importantly, it gave the Huasheng team a clearer understanding of the coating requirements developing across the North and South American markets.
Surface Engineering Technologies Presented at IMTS
At IMTS 2026, Huasheng introduced its industrial coating technologies and equipment solutions, including:
- HiPIMS coating technology for high-density plasma, improved film adhesion and dense coating structures
- Arc ion plating equipment for cutting tools, molds and wear-resistant components
- Hybrid coating systems combining multiple deposition technologies
- PECVD DLC coating equipment for low-friction and wear-resistant surfaces
- CVD coating solutions for specialized high-performance applications
These technologies support a wide range of applications, including cutting tools, molds, precision components, aerospace parts, automotive components and decorative metal products.
Huasheng’s equipment portfolio presented during the exhibition included the GFOUR HiPIMS coating system, MD200 arc ion plating equipment, HD800 hybrid coating system and DLC1500 PECVD DLC coating machine.

Cutting Tool Coating Remains a Core Market
Cutting tool coating was one of the main discussion topics throughout the exhibition.
Local cutting tool manufacturers showed strong interest in building their own coating capacity. Many companies currently depend on external coating service providers and are evaluating the cost, production flexibility and delivery advantages of bringing coating operations in-house.
The discussions covered coating solutions for end mills, drills, inserts, broaches, gear cutting tools and saw blades. Customers were particularly interested in equipment investment, coating cost per batch, production capacity, target consumption and process stability.
Selecting a suitable coating system requires more than comparing machine specifications. Tool material, geometry, batch size, coating type and production targets must all be evaluated before determining the equipment configuration.

Growing Demand for DLC Coating Applications
DLC coating attracted considerable attention at IMTS 2026.
Manufacturers and component suppliers discussed DLC applications for molds, aerospace components, precision mechanical parts and other products exposed to friction and wear. Some customers were looking for qualified coating services, while others were considering the installation of their own DLC coating equipment.
For aerospace and precision component manufacturers, the main requirements included reducing friction, improving surface durability, protecting critical contact areas and extending component service life.
Several discussions also focused on projects where previous coating results had not met expectations. These cases showed the importance of matching the substrate material, pretreatment process, coating structure and deposition technology to the actual operating conditions.

Decorative Coating Presents New Opportunities
Decorative coating also emerged as a promising market during the exhibition.
Huasheng met with companies serving jewelry, premium hardware, metal accessories and consumer product industries. Their requirements included consistent color, improved wear resistance, stable production and better control of the coating process.
Decorative applications require equipment that can balance appearance, coating adhesion and batch-to-batch consistency. The market feedback collected at IMTS will help Huasheng further refine its decorative PVD coating solutions for international customers.
Moving from Equipment Questions to Project Evaluation
As the exhibition progressed, customer questions became more specific.
Early conversations often focused on equipment functions and available coating technologies. Later discussions addressed target utilization, consumable costs, production capacity, staffing requirements, maintenance and return on investment.
This shift indicates that many manufacturers are no longer simply learning about coating technology. They are evaluating how an in-house coating operation could fit into their production and business plans.
Huasheng supports this evaluation process through application analysis, sample coating tests, process development, equipment configuration and operator training. Each project is assessed according to the customer’s products, production volume, coating requirements and expected operating cost.

The Next Stage After IMTS 2026
The conclusion of IMTS 2026 marks the beginning of the next stage of work.
Huasheng will continue technical discussions with the companies we met in Chicago. The next steps will include application reviews, sample testing, process recommendations, factory visits and detailed equipment proposals.
The exhibition confirmed several important market trends:
- Cutting tool coating remains a major industrial application.
- Demand for DLC coating is growing in aerospace, molds and precision components.
- More manufacturers are evaluating in-house coating production.
- Decorative coating offers further opportunities in premium metal products.
- Customers need complete process support alongside reliable coating equipment.
Huasheng remains committed to developing practical coating solutions for the global manufacturing industry. We thank every customer, partner and industry professional who visited our booth and shared their coating requirements with our team.
